Dr. Sharan Shivaraj Patil is the Founder, Chairman, and Chief of the Orthopaedic & Joint Replacement Surgery Department at SPARSH Group of Hospitals. With over three decades of clinical experience, he has performed more than 15,000 surgeries, including approximately 8,000 joint replacements, and has personally led over 5,000 major complex procedures across Paediatric Orthopaedics, Joint Replacement, and Complex Trauma.
He completed his MBBS with academic distinction from Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, Gulbarga, followed by a Diploma in Orthopaedics and MS (Orthopaedics) — the latter with a Gold Medal — from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. In 1992, he travelled to the UK for advanced training across leading institutions in North West England, including Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Royal Liverpool University Hospital, and Hope Hospital, Manchester. In 1995, he was awarded the Mch Ortho from Liverpool University, becoming the youngest graduate to receive the degree since the course began in 1926. He holds an Honorary FRCS (England), conferred in 2010.
Returning to India in 1996, Dr. Patil joined Manipal Hospitals, Bangalore, before founding Sparsh Hospital in 2006 — starting as a single-speciality, 120-bed facility. Under his leadership, the group has grown into a multi-speciality hospital network across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in Karnataka, with over 1,200 beds.
